My Custom MTG Cards

I’m a big fan of recontextualizing characters in different mediums. It’s a fun way to explore a character’s design, to see what makes them tick by recreating them in another format.

For example, The Senshi is a great Slay the Spire mod adding Sailor Moon themed cards and animations to the game. I’ve never watched Sailor Moon, but I played the hell out of that mod (beat A20 with it baby!) and gained an appreciation for the show.

Magic the Gathering (MTG) players have been doing this for years, creating fan-made cards for their favorite characters. A few years ago, Wizards of the Coast (the publishers of MTG) got into the action, creating their “Universes Beyond” line. They made sets of cards for all sorts of franchises, including Stranger Things, Warhammer, and Lord of the Rings.

I don’t actually like Universes Beyond – it feels like a soulless cash grab to me. But actual fans making cards to use with their friends? Sign me right up!

In that spirit, this page will contain a list of MTG cards that I’ve made. I’m currently using the very handy https://mtgcardsmith.com/ card website to make the graphics.

My Cards

  • A magic card for the Kill Six Billion Demons character Gog-Agog. The text of the card is: Gog-Agog {2}{U}
Legendary Creature — Demiurge
The “legend rule” doesn’t apply to permanents named Gog-Agog.
Gog-Agog can’t be blocked.
Whenever Gog-Agog deals combat damage to a player, target non-Demiurge creature that player controls becomes a copy of Gog-Agog.
1/1

    Behold, Gog-Agog from the webcomic Kill Six Billion Demons!

    I first wrote this up as a comment (beware spoilers!) on the webcomic under the name “DealSixBillionCombatDamage”, but have gone ahead and spruced it up here.

    In the comic, Gog-Agog is one of The Seven legendary demiurges with universe shattering powers. The Great Devourer. Scourge of Worlds. Bearer of the word Beast.

    Gog-Agog is a hive-mind creature made of billions and billions of worms. It’s almost impossible to kill her in her entirety, because with even one worm left she’s able to rebuild. Additionally, she’s able to assimilate other people into her hive-mind by feeding them one of her worms.

    I really like this card design for her. She’s individually weak and easy to target, but left unchecked she’ll convert everything on the board. Also, I love it whenever the legend rule gets messed with.
